Escape from Execution (Kork Doung Village, Pourk District) Chhoeun, a former Lon Nol soldier, was taken by the Khmer rouge (KR) for execution in a rare escape, he and two others overpowered and killed one of the KR soldiers while the other was digging their grave, allowing them to flee. mass grave in Phum Lepeu report indicated the presence of a mass grave, but it was not visited. lack of genocide Document (Siem Reap Culture office) Mr. Thun Nol, Director of the Cultural office, confirmed that no documents about the genocide were available. missing KR Records (office of Cults and Religion, Siem Reap) officials Huy and Van Bunna stated that crucial genocide documents were either lost or discarded. A book documenting executing per district was once published, but local copies of available genocide data. reports of Mass Graves and Executions know excution sites: Kralanh, Phnom Truong Bat, L'o Village and Wat Thmey. Lon nol soldiers were reportdly executed at Tram Neak Village and Wat Themy. another memorial site is at Wat Ksech, Tropeang Thum Sub- District, Prasat Bakhong District. Khmer Rouge Leadership in Siem Reap. Sot and Sien, both former teachers, were KR leaders but were later killed by Angkor along with their followers. Ta Mok took over command afterward. Bunna witnessed his own father, a teacher, being executed in O Village, Svay Leu District. This report highlights first- hand accounts of survival, mass executions, and the challenges of preserving genocide records in post- Khmer Rouge Cambodia. |
