The loss of a family member – my youngest brother
My youngest brother, Kaem Yiek, worked in a mobile work brigade under the Pol Pot regime. He was arrested and killed at some point between 1976 and 1977. I only heard that commune combatants arrested him, brought him to the Touk Meas prison and killed him there. Missing home and parents, my brother escaped home many times. This was why he was arrested, imprisoned, and executed. I do not know who is responsible for his death or who ordered the arrest. An eyewitness who saw the incident has passed away. |
