Mam Thann was a soldier in platoon 2, company 1, battalion 744, positioned in north zone. The battalion 744, which comprised 300 combatants, equipped with heavy weapons, was located in Chang Kaech Trang village, point VU885-138, and its commander was An. And its duty was to ambush national fleet which travelled up and down in Kampong Chhnang province. People and soldiers were not content with communist measure. On the other hand, enemy were facing food and bullets shortage. Mam Thann defected at point VU782-116 on November 01, 1974.
ម៉ម ថាន់ ជាយុទ្ធជននៅកងអនុសេនាតូច ២ អនសេនាធំ ១ វរសេនាតូច ៧៤៤ ប្រចាំភូមិភាគឧត្ដរទិស។ ក្នុងកងវរសេនាតូច ៧៤៤ មានទ័ពចំនួន៣០០នាក់ ក្រោមបញ្ជាការឈ្មោះ អន ដែលមានទីតាំង នៅភូមិចង្កើចត្រង់ វីយូ៨៨៥-១៣៨ ប្រដាប់ដោយអាវុធដៃ និងកាំភ្លើងធំ។ កងឯកភាពនេះមានភារៈកិច្ចចាំស្ទាក់វាយ ប្រហារទៅលើ ក្បួននាវារបស់កងទ័ពជាតិដែលឡើងចុះក្នុងខេត្ដកំពង់ឆាំ្នង។ ប្រជាជន និងយុទ្ធជនរបស់ពួកវាមិនពេញចិត្ដទៅនឹងវិធានការ របស់ពួកវាឡើយ។ ៧-១១-១៩៧៤ ត្រង់ចំនុច(វីយូ៧៨២-១១៦)។ ពួកខ្មាំងកំពុងមាន បញ្ហាស្មុកស្មាញចំពោះ ស្បៀងអាហារ និង គ្រាប់រំសេវ។ ម៉ម ថាន់ បានចុះចូលនៅថៃ។
