Lay Yeng served Khmer communist movement as a militiaman in Toul Krasang village, region 3. The unit consisted of 200 men under the command of Mei. Lay Yen, on July 10, 1974, defected to national military authority at VT:701-637 and brought along 1 CKC hand guns. He also said that the weapons used in this unit were the following:
- 2 of 60mm guns - 2 of B-40 guns - 2 of M-79 guns - 15 of AK-47 guns - other CM-16 and Karabine guns ឡាយ យ៉េង បានបម្រើចលនាខ្មែរកុម្មុយនីស្ដក្នុងឋានៈជាកងឈ្លបប្រចាំភូមិទួលក្រសាំង ស្រុក៧០តំបន់៣, ក្រោមបញ្ជាការឈ្មោះ ម៉ី ដែល មានកម្លាំងទាំងអស់២០០នាក់។ ជននេះបានចូលរួបរួមក្នុងសង្គមជាតិវិញនៅថ្ងៃទី៣០ ខែតុលា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ ជាមួយកងទ័ពជាតិយើងនៅប៉ុស្ដិ៍យោធាសង្កែ ត្រង់វ៉េតេៈ៧០១-៦៣៧ ដោយជាប់មកជាមួយនូវអាវុធសេកាសេ១ដើមផង។ អាវុធដែលត្រូវបានគេប្រើប្រាស់ក្នុងអង្គភាព នេះមានៈ - កាំភើ្លងធំ៦០មម ២ដើម - បេ-៤០,២ដើម - អ៊ឹម-៧៩,២ដើម - អាកា-៤៧,១៥ដើមព្រមទាំងសេអ៊ឹម-១៦ និងការ៉ាបីនមួយចំនួនធំទៀត។
