Me Chay served Khmer communist movement as a combatant in regiment 303, region 33. In the unit consisted of 400 men under the command of comrade
Bau. On April 29, 1974, he defected to national military in Banteay Doskan Chor (armored brigrade 1). មែ ចយ បានបម្រើចលនាខ្មែរកុម្មុយនីស្ដ ក្នុងឋានៈជាយុទ្ធជនក្នុងកងវរៈ៣០៣ ប្រចាំតំបន់៣៣។ នៅក្នុងអង្គភាពមានកម្លាំងទាំងអស់៤០០នាក់សិ្ថតក្រោមមេបញ្ជាការឈ្មោះ សមមិត្ដ បូ។ នៅថ្ងៃទី២៩ ខែមេសាឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ ជននេះបានចូលរួបរួមក្នុងសង្គមវិញជាមួយកងទ័ពជាតិ យើងនៅបន្ទាយដោះកពោ្ជារ(កងពលតូចរថក្រោះទី១)។
