Nha Nhem joined Khmer Rouge in late 1973 and became a combatant in group 1, platoon 1 of a company which had not established yet of battalion 13, region 13, Southwest zone. He was arrested by national troop in the fighting in Tom pagoda.
ញ៉ ញ៉ែម បានចូលធ្វើខ្មែរក្រហមនៅចុងឆ្នាំ១៩៧៣ ដោយមាន មុខងារជាយុទ្ធជននៅក្រុមទី១ កងអនុសេនាតូចលេខ១ កងអនុសេនាធំមិនទាន់មាននៃកងវរសេនាតូចលេខ១៣ តំបន់១៣ ភូមិភាកនិរតី។ ពេលចូលប្រយុទ្ធនៅសមរភូមិវត្ដតុំក៍ត្រូវបានទាហាន ជាតិចាប់ខ្លួនបាន។
