A source repored that on May 25, 1973, some 3,000 Khmer Rebel Armed Forces reinforcements divided into two groups and went to stay in villages in Kampong Svay and Banteay Dek sub-district, Kean Svay district,
Kandal province. They attempted to assist in fighting along National Road No. 1. ប្រភពបានផ្ដល់មកថា កាលពីថ្ងៃទី២៥ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៣ ខ្មែរឧទ្ទាមចំនួនប្រហែល៣,០០០នាក់ ជាកងជំនួយប្រដាប់អាវុធគ្រប់ដៃបានបំបែកគ្នាជា២ក្រុមឡើងមកស្នាក់នៅក្នុងភូមិនានាក្នុងសង្កាត់កំពង់ស្វាយ និង សង្កាត់បន្ទាយដែក ក្នុងស្រុកកៀនស្វាយ ខេត្ដកណ្ដាល។ ប្រភពបានបន្ថែមថា ខ្មាំងមានបំណងប្រុងចូលទៅជួយវាយប្រហារជាមួយកងទ័ព ខ្មាំងដែលកំពុងប្រតិបតិ្ដការនៅតាមបណ្ដោយផ្លូវជាតិលេខ១។
