The decade of genocide hat two phases the 1970-1975 war and the Khmer Rouge atrocities of 1975-1978. The two are related. In 1970, Richard Dudman described how American bombs were mobilizing the Khmer Rouge.
ទសវត្សនៃអំពើប្រល័យពូជសាសន៍ ចែកចេញជា ២ផ្នែកគឺសង្គ្រាមនៅចន្លោះឆ្នាំ ១៩៧០ - ១៩៧៥ និង អំពើរឃោរឃៅនៃខ្មែរក្រហម ក្នុងឆ្នាំ១៩៧៥ - ១៩៧៨។ ផ្នែកទាំង២មានការប្រទាក់ក្រឡាគ្នាដោយក្នុងឆ្នាំ១៩៧០ វីឆាត ដូបមែន បានរៀបរាប់អំពីរបៀបនៃការបំផ្ទុះគ្រាប់បែករបស់អាមេរិកក្នុងការកៀរគរក្រុមខ្មែរក្រហម។
