American embassy in Thailand had interviewed several refugees who managed to escape to Thailand. Refugees' tales told to American officials followed the same pattern: Khmer Rouge beat and killed anyone identified with the old regime soldiers, civil servantes, students and others.
ស្ថានទូតអាមេរិកកាំងក្នុងប្រទេសថៃ បានសម្ភាសន៍និងជនភៀសខ្លួនទៅប្រទេសថៃ។ ជនភៀសខ្លួនទាំងនេះបាននិយាយថា មន្ដ្រីអាមេរិកកាំងបានធ្វើតាមលំនាំដូចគ្នា ខ្មែរក្រហមវាយដំធ្វើបាប និង បានសម្លាប់យោធាក្នុងរបបចាស់(របប លន់ នល់) ប្រជាជនស៊ីវិល និស្សិត សិស្ស បព្ញាវន្ដ។
