Starvation
After April 17, 1975, there was no single moment that I had enough food to eat: only a ladle of gruel per meal. I do not know why Angkar gave people gruel to eat. Sometimes I only ate one meal per day, even though people could produce a lot of rice. |

Property destruction
My house was pulled down on the sixth month of the lunar calendar year in 1975. Some security police who were stationed in Savkor (I do not know the exact number of men) pulled my house down and used the wood to build a communal dining hall for a cooperative located in Tbel village, Savkor district. When they pulled my house down, I was not at home. At the time, I was busy fishing at the Sdao and Sneng lakes. My neighbors told me that Khmer Rouge security police came to pull my house down. I am not certain whether Angkar ordered this or not. At the time, my house was located in Kbil village, Savkor commune. Khmer Rouge security police eradicated all the paintings in Prasat pagoda, located in Prasat village, Savkor district. Khmer Rouge security police also carried rice to store inside the pagoda. I recall the paintings in this pagoda because I entered my monkhood at the age of twenty-two. I visited this site in 1977 when my friend and I were passing through the pagoda. I did not see the Buddha statues inside the pagoda because rice was everywhere. |
