US government feared about the future of Phnom Penh. The US Embassy urged all non-American foreign correspondents, including those working for US media, to leave Cambodia. Meanwhile, the Khmer Rouge insurgents increased their pressure on Phnom Penh, pushing government troop back to less than four miles from Pochentong Airport.
រដ្ឋាភិបាលសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិកបានព្រួយបារម្ភពីអនាគត់របស់ក្រុងភ្នំពេញ។ ស្ថានទូតសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក បានជម្រុញឱ្យអ្នកការបរទេសដែលមិនចូលបក្ខសម្ព័ន្ធអាមេរិកទាំងអស់ រួមទាំងកិច្ចការប្រព័ន្ធផ្សព្វផ្សាយព័ត៌មានរបស់សហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក ឱ្យចាកចេញពីប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។ ទន្ទឹមនឹងនេះដែរ ក្រុមបដិវត្ដន៍ខ្មែរក្រហមបានបង្កើតសម្ពោធមកលើក្រុងភ្នំពេញ, ជម្រុញឱ្យកងកម្លាំងរដ្ឋាភិបាលវិលត្រឡប់ទៅវិញយ៉ាងតិច៤ម៉ាយ ពីអាកាសយានដ្ឋានពោធិ៍ចិនតុង។
