1976 was a year of internal political restructuring, expans of external diplomatic ties and conrolidation of the radical new social and economic order imposed nationwide after the fall of Phnom Penh. It was a year that saw Prince Sihanouk step down, the monarchy abolished and the state of Democratic Kampuchea proclaimed by a new constitution.
ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៦គឺជាឆ្នាំដែលរចនាសម្ព័ន្ធនយោបាយផ្ទៃក្នុងកើតឡើង រួមទាំងមានការពង្រីកនូវទំនាក់ទំនងការទូតខាងក្រៅប្រទេស និង ការបង្រួបបង្រួមនូវឫសនៃសង្គមថ្មី និងសេដ្ឋកិច្ចដោយស្នើឱ្យមានការបង់ពន្ធទូទាំងប្រទេសក្រោយពីការធ្លាក់នៃភ្នំពេញ។ វាជាឆ្នំាដែលព្រះបានសីហនុមានការធ្លាក់ចុះដោយសារតែអំណាចរាជានិយមមានការលុបបំបាត់ និងការប្រកាសឱ្យកើតមាននូវរដ្ឋធម្មនុញថ្មីគឺរដ្ឋកម្ពុជាប្រជាធិបតេយ្យ។
