Kampuchean farmers produced a good rainy season rice crop in 1980. While optimist in the international aid community had predicted food self-sufficiency by the end of 1982, Kong Sam Ol, the US-trained Minister of Agriculture, cautioned that 1985 might be a more realistic target.
