The Vienamese invasion of Kampuchea inaugurated the long weeks of battles and bloodshed which defined and intensified the new alliances in Asia. The roots of the Vietnam-Kampuchea conflict were complex, involving national rivalry, competing communist ideologies and historic fears and distrust.
ការឈ្លានពានវៀតណាមមកលើកម្ពុជាបានបង្កនូវសង្គ្រាមនិងការបង្ហូរឈាម អស់រយះពេលជាច្រើនសប្ដាហ៍ដែលមានបំណងចង់កំណត់និងពង្រឹងសម្ព័ន្ធ ភាពថ្មីនៅអាស៊ី។ ប្ញសគល់នៃការនាំឱ្យមានជម្លោះរវាងវៀតណាម-កម្ពុជា គឺមានសកម្មភាពស្មុគស្មាញណាស់ភាគច្រើនពាក់ព័ន្ធទៅនឹងការប្រកួតប្រជែង ខាងផ្នែកសង្គមជាតិ ខាងមនោគមន៍វិជ្ជាបែបកម្មុយនិស្ដ ការភ័យខ្លាច និងការមិនទុកចិត្ដជាប្រវតិ្ដសាស្ដ្រ។
