Phnom Penh radio broadcast said that Prince Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia had resigned as chief of state and would be pensioned at $8,000 a year. In a speech to the 250-member National Assembly, Prince Sihanouk said, "for 30 years I have been guiding the country and I requests the representatives of the people to allow me to resign."
ការផ្សាយរបស់វិទ្យុភ្នំពេញបាននិយាយថា សមេÒចនរោតÒម សីហនុ នៃប្រទេសកម"ុជាបានលាលែងពីតំណែងប្រមុខរដ្ឋ ហើយទទួលបានប្រាក់សោធនចំនួន៨ពាន់លានដុល្លាក្នុងមួយឆ្នាំ។ នៅក្នុងសុន្ទរកថាមួយ ទៅកាន់សភាដែលមានសមាជីក ២៥០នាក់ សមេÒចសីហនុបានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា អស់រយៈពេល៣០ឆ្នាំដែលខ្ញុំបានដឹកនាំប្រទេសនេះ ហើយខ្ញុំសូមស្នើសុំសមាជិកតំណាងរាស្រÒអនុញ្ញាតឱ្យខ្ញុំធ្វើកាលាលែងពីតំណែង។
