Prince Norodom Sihanouk's press secretary said the Cambodian chief of state had been double-crossed by his country's communist leaders and some of them wanted to get rid of him. Prince Sihanouk said that, "My decision to return to Cambodia does not express the fact that I agree with the cruel policy of Red Khmer."
អង្គរ័ក្សជំនិតផ្ទាល់របស់សមេ្ដច នរោត្ដម សីហនុ បាននិយាយថាប្រធានប្រមុខរដ្ឋកម្ពុជាត្រូវបានបណេ្ដញចេញពីប្រទេសរបស់លោក ដោយមេដឹកនាំកុម្មុយនិស្ដ និង ខ្លះទៀត ចង់កំណត់សមេ្ដចចោល។ សមេ្ដច នរោត្ដម សីហនុ បាននិយាយថា ឪការសមេ្រចចិត្ដត្រឡប់មកប្រទេសកម្ពុជា មិនបានបព្ជាក់ពីការពិតដែលថា លោកយល់ព្រមជាមួយគោលនយោបាយឃោរឃៅ របស់ពួកខ្មែរក្រហម។
