Killing:
In late 1975, my husband, Daung Khit, was arrested by two Khmer Rouge cadres, Comrade Sun and Comrade Tin. He was arrested at Chong Da and brought to Srange Pagoda. After detaining him for five days, they killed him after accusing him of not working hard enough. I learned about this incident when I sneaked to Chheu Teal Village to meet my cousin, Iem Tin, who knew about this incident. I saw about two hundred prisoners being detained at Srange Pagoda. Five prisoners were taken to be killed per night. I learned this information from Iem Tin, whose house was next to the prison. |

Family separation:
In 1975, the cooperative chief of Sleng Khpuos Village, Sann Kor Commune, assigned me to work in a female mobile unit. They ordered me to dig a canal at Snay Dei Village in Kampong Svay District. Each person had to dig up four termite mounds per day. If we could not complete the assigned task, we would be punished. Half of our body would be buried in the earth. Later, they made me build rice dikes at Kampot River in Kampong Svay District. I had to build a hundred meters of rice dikes per day. If we could not complete the task, we were punished. After that, they sent me to harvest rice at Chong Dak, located in Koh Commune, Santuk District. My husband was put to work in a farm unit, building the 6 January Dam in Kampong Thmor Commune, Baray District. Under the Khmer Rogue regime, my husband and I were separated. I think that they separated us under the regime because they did not want us to have any children. Starvation: In 1977, there was a terrible shortage of food. We worked from seven a.m. to twelve a.m., before taking a rest and eating rice soup. They gave each person a cup of watery rice soup to eat. At the time, Sun and Tin took charge of Sleng Khpous Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. They gave us a minimal amount of rice soup to eat because they wanted us to build up toleration for starvation. |
