Forced labor
In 1976, after I arrived in Sleng Khpuos Village, Comrades Suon and Neun put me to work in a children’s mobile unit in Sva O Village, Damrei Slap District, Kampong Thom Province. I do not know the person who was in charge there. When I first arrived in Sva O Village, I was put to work building a dam, digging a canal, and digging up termite mounds. In one day, a group of seven people had to dig out a termite mound which measured three quadrilaterals . The work lasted from six a.m. to eleven a.m. and from eleven thirty a.m. to six p.m. In addition to building the dam and digging up the termite mounds, I had to make fertilizer. To make fertilizer for use in the paddy field, I picked up cow dung and collected Antreang Khet, a kind of tree, and mixed them together. Saeng, who now lives in Krasaing Kor Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province, was the chief of the children’s work unit at the time, and he was the one who gave us the assigned tasks. I missed my mother, so I ran off to meet her. When I returned, Oeng, a female, punished me by putting me to work building the dam. I do not know why she treated me that way. I am not sure about any other events which happened during that time. |

Deportation:
During the third and fourth months of the lunar calendar of 1975, the Khmer Rouge deported me from Kampong Thom to Sleng Khpuos Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District. After my family and I lived in Sleng Khpuos Village for about ten days, Ta Suon (deceased), the chief of Sleng Khpuos Village, deported us to La Village, Damrei Slap Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. I do not know why Ta Suon deported my family to La Village. The deportation probably took place because I was a 17 April person (new person). After living in La Village for a year, the Sleng Khpuos village chief returned me to his village during the harvesting season. |
