In 1949, former granted Cambodia legal independence but retained control if police and army. Prince Sihanouk claimed a complete independence in 1953, however, he was ousted by Marshal Lon Nol in 1970, which fell under the Khmer Rouge forces in 1975. Khmer Rouge annexed a new constitution and elected Khieu Samphan as Head of State succeeding Prince Sihanouk, who had resigned as Head of State.
នៅឆ្នាំ១៩៤៩ អតីតជំនួយឯករាជ្យផ្នែកច្បាប់នៅកម្ពុជា ប៉ុន្ដែបានរក្សាការត្រួតពិនិត្យទៅលើកងតម្រួត និង កងយោធា។ ព្រះបាទនរោត្ដម សីហនុ បានទាមទារនូវឯករាជ្យភាពពេញលេញនៅ១៩៥៣ ប៉ុន្ដែព្រះអង្គត្រូវបានសេនាប្រមុខ លន់ ណល់ ធើ្វការបណេ្ដញចេញនៅឆ្នាំ១៩៧០ ដោយបានធ្លាក់ចូលក្នុងរបបខ្មែរក្រហមនៅឆ្នាំ១៩៧៥ ខ្មែរក្រហមបានបន្ថែមនូវរដ្ឋធម្មនុញ្ញថ្មី និង ជ្រើសរើស ខៀវ សំផន ជាប្រមុខរដ្ឋជំនួសព្រះបាទនរោត្ដមសីហនុ ដែលបានលាលែងដំណែងជាព្រះប្រមុនរដ្ឋ។
