In 1975 the second Indochina conflict ended when communist and nationalist forces seized power in Phnom Penh and Saigon. The expectation that some form of regional peace and stability would follow was confounded a short four years later when Vietnam overthrew DK and China invaded the Northern provinces of Vietnam.
