At the end of Kampuchea's nearly 20 year decline into madness, and state brutality for its own sake, the war which Pol Pot's Democratic Kampuchea had started with its neighbor Vietnam resulted in the overthrow of DK and the replacement by PRK.
នៅចុងបញ្ចប់នៃការចុះអន់ថយទៅរកភាពព្រៃផ្សៃមកលើកម្ពុជាអស់ជិត២០ ឆ្នាំរួមនិងអំពើតរិច្ឆានដែលរដ្ឋបានប្រើប្រាស់សម្រាប់ជាប្រយោជន៍ផ្ទាល់ខ្លួន ដូចជាសង្គ្រាមដែលកើតឡើងក្នុងរបបកម្ពុជាប្រជាធិបតេយ្យ (ប៉ុល ពត) ជាមួយនឹងប្រទេសជិតខាងគឺវៀតណាមដែលជាលទ្ធផលចង់ផ្ដួលរំលំរបប កម្ពុជាប្រជាធិបតេយ្យដែលជំនួសដោយសាធារដ្ឋប្រជាមានិតកម្ពុជាវិញ។
