The present Asean policy on the Kampuchean conflict seemed to be losing its bearing on the prevailing reality. Vietnam's 1984-85 dry season military campaigns in Kampuchea destroyed and retained effective control of most of the Khmer resistance strong holds on the Thai-Cambodia border within a period of four months.
គោលនយោបាយអាស៊ានពេលថ្មីដែលដាក់នាពេលជម្លោះហាក់មានការបាត់ បង់និងធ្លាក់ទៅក្នុងកណ្ដាប់ដៃភាគីដែលឈ្នះ។ ឆ្នាំ១៩៨៤-១៩៨៥ នៅ ប្រទេសវៀតណាមដែលជារដូវប្រាំងនោះ កងយោធាធ្វើយុទ្ធនាការនៅ ក្នុង ការបំផ្លាញប្រទេសកម្ពុជា និងរក្សាការគ្រប់គ្រងដ៏មានប្រសិទ្ធភាពនៃ ការទប់ស្កាត់ការតស៊ូរបស់ខ្មែរភាគច្រើននៅលើព្រំដែនថៃ-កម្ពុជា ក្នុងរយៈពេល៤ខែ។
