The purpose of the interview was to document and tell the world about the suffering of the Cambodian people in Cambodia under Khmer Rouge rule. It was important that the destruction of the Cambodian people; and Cambodian culture was recorded for history.
គោលបំណងនៃការធ្វើកិច្ចសម្ភាសន៍គឺដើម្បីប្រមូលឯកសារនិងចង់ប្រាប់ទៅ កាន់ពិភពលោកអំពីភាពឈឺចាប់របស់ប្រជាជនកម្ពុជា នៅក្នុងសម័យគ្រប់ គ្រងដោយក្រុមខ្មែរក្រហម។ វាពិតជាមានមានភាពសំខាន់ណាស់ ដែលមហន្ដរាយរបស់ប្រជាជនកម្ពុជានិងការបំផ្លិចបំផ្លាញទៅលើវប្បធម៌ កម្ពុជាត្រូវបានចុះនៅក្នុងប្រវតិ្ដសាស្ដ្រ។
