David Hawk stated that the external aspects of the Cambodian conflict were being worked out rather quickly because the Soviet Union, China, Vietnam and Thailand decided their interests were better served by pulling back from so direct a confrontation inside Cambodia.
ដេវីដ ហក បានថ្លែងថាទិដ្ឋភាពផ្នែកខាងក្រៅនៃជម្លោះនៅកម្ពុជាគឺត្រូវតែ ដោះស្រាយឱ្យបានឆាប់រហ័សដោយតែសហភាពសូវៀត, ចិន, វៀតណាម និងប្រទេសថៃបានបង្វែរការចាប់អារម្មណ៍របស់បណ្ដាលប្រទេសទាំងនោះ បានប្រសើរជាងមុនដោយការអូសទាញត្រឡប់មកវិញនូវការប្រឈមមុខ ដាក់គ្នាដោយផ្ទាល់នៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។
