The Cambodian end game had entered a new and critical stage. The regime installed in Phnom Penh by Vietnam continued to hold sway over the major cities and most of the countryside. Continued fighting in Cambodia served the interests of the Khmer Rouge.
ដំណាក់កាលចុងក្រោយរបស់ប្រទេសកម្ពុជាបានឈានចូលនូវជំហានថ្មីមួយ និងជំហានដែលតឹងតែងបំផុត។ របបដែលមាននៅក្នុងទីក្រុងភ្នំពេញដោយ កើតចេញដោយការបញ្ចូលរបស់ប្រទេសវៀតណាមនៅតែមានឥទ្ធិពលទៅ លើទីក្រុងមួយផ្នែកធំ និងភូមិភាគជាច្រើននៅតាមទីជនបទ។ ការបន្ដការ ចម្បាំងគ្នានៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាបានផ្ដល់នូវការចាប់អារម្មណ៍ ទៅដល់ក្រុម ខ្មែរក្រហមដែលជាក្រុមឱកាសនិយម។
