By the end of 1977, collectivisation had abolished private property entirely. Everything-land, harvests, utensils, cattle, tools, event clothing-was owned by the state. Meals were taken in common refectories. Families had been divided among work brigades according to age, and sex.
ចុងឆ្នាំ១៩៧៧ ការរស់នៅផ្ដុំគ្នាគឺមិនអនុព្ញាត្ដឱ្យប្រើប្រាស់នូវសំភារៈផ្ទាល់ខ្លួនឡើយ។ ដីគ្រប់កន្លែងការប្រមូលផលស្រូវ សំភារៈផ្ទះបាយ សត្វពាហនៈ ឧបករណ៍ សូម្បីតែសំលៀកបំពាក់ ក៏ត្រូវតែគ្រប់គ្រងដោយរដ្ឋដែរ។ ម្ហូបអាហារភាគច្រើនត្រូវទទួលទាននៅរោងបាយ។ គ្រួសារនីមួយៗត្រូវបានចែកជាកងពលតូចៗទៅតាមប្រភេទការងារដោយផ្អែកទៅតាមអាយុនិង ភេទ។
