Killing of my sister, Muon Moeun:
In approximately early 1976, my younger sister, Muon Moeun, died due to a lack of medical treatment. At the time, my sister lived in Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune. After my sister delivered a baby, there was no salt for her diet. Her husband, Suon Soeun, burned the midrib of a coconut leaf to provide the salty taste for his wife to eat. After eating that, she had postpartum illness. The cooperative sent her to the hospital at Thnal Bek, Kampong Thom. I only knew that she was sent from the village to the hospital because I could not go along with her. My sister has disappeared forever. I think that my sister must have died. I do not know why this happened or who killed my sister. |

In approximately mid-1976, I lived in Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. The cooperative chief provided insufficient food for people to eat. The cooperative chief was Tren. During that time, they gave each person a bowl of watery rice soup. Everyone received the same amount of food. When collecting farm produce, we did not receive lots of product because everyone suffered from exhaustion and was moved around constantly on different work assignments. The chiefs had enough food to eat, while the people did not. Sien Muon lived in the cooperative with me and received insufficient food to eat as well. |
