Starvation:
My older brother, Ngin Laun, died from starvation in late 1976 in Kampong Thom Hospital. At the time, he was sixty years old. They ordered him to sew leaves and make buckets used for carrying earth. Sorn, the dining hall chief, gave my brother such a little amount of food to eat that he became ill and died. Sun, the cooperative chief, assigned my brother tasks to complete in Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District. They reduced his ration because he did not complete the assigned tasks. When he became ill, he went to the provincial hospital and died there. My brother, Ngin Yem, died in 1976 in Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province. At the time, Sun, the cooperative chief, had him working together with Ngin Laun because my brother had aged. Sorn starved Ngin Yem to death in Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District. Sorn starved him because he did not complete the assigned work tasks. |

Family separation:
The Khmer Rouge separated my family members. I was forced to work in a mobile unit, plowing the paddy fields at Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District. My wife, Sann Men, was forced to make sugar at Krasaing Kha Village, Sann Kor Commune, Kampong Svay District. My two daughters were looked after by elderly women. My family all worked in this village and commune. After a month or two passed, they allowed me to meet my wife for one or two nights. I do not know why Sun, the cooperative chief, separated my family. The separation took place in late 1975. |
