Summary / Abstract :
|
An old Cambodian man, slightly hunched, craned has neck and scanned the mug shots of inmates, taken before they were exterminated in a Phnom Penh prison camp nearly a decade ago. He searched for a familiar face. For four years, the old man had been a candidate for execution, held by the same forces that killed the people whose blank visages hung in front of him. He was a survivor, though; he had escaped death. But not the memories.
