received a letter from So Phim in 1978 telling him to raise forces to oppose the Pol Pot-Ieng Sary group (BKI 126 A, B, p. 338) ~ "He [So Phim]wrote me a letter, saying prepare your forces again, withdraw the forces that are at the front, because of the Central Zone forces led by Pauk, secretary of the Central Zone; bring back the forces to prepare for a conflict. He also said that for his struggle we have no base area, so, comrades, make contact with our old friends again, because these old friends have done nothing wrong to us. They are in fact making a correct socialist revolution, according to Marxism-Leninism, but Pol Pot has broken off contact with them.
