My husband, Ya Seng, was killed by the KR: During the dry season in 1977, I was living in Ou Andoung Village in Banteay Meanchey Province. Heong, the unit chief, came to our house at dawn and asked my husband to go to the forest to help cut trees. I did not know where my husband was taken. Later, an old man named Roeum, who was also KR, came to me and said, "My daughter (a respectful form of address by the elderly toward young people), do not wait for [your husband]. He will not return. They (the KR) already took him to Banteay Neang." I did not know why the KR took my husband to be killed. I only knew that my husband used to be a Lon Nol soldier.
