Execution of my father:

In late 1978, my father, Pun Yem, was taken away and killed along the Stung Sen River in Kampong Thom Province. Unknown Khmer Rouge ordered my father to work with them at the provincial town of Kampong Thom. I do not know the details of the killing. My father was accused of stealing a cow in the village. In fact, he did not steal anything and he worked hard. I learned about the incident from my mother. Before he was killed along the Stung Sen River, my father was tied up, exposed to the hot sun, and starved for three days. They used a bamboo stick to beat him down to the Stung Sen River. My mother told me this story, but this is all I recall. Under the Khmer Rouge regime, I was a small child and did not know any stories about what was happening.
