Main Crime Details :
Imprisonment:

In late 1975, I was arrested by security staff (unknown names) of Stong District at Spean Lakk in Kampong Thom Province. This incident took place at three p.m. At that time, I had been evacuated to Spean Lakk, along with fifty-sixty other families, comprising a total of two hundred to three hundred people. Four security guards captured me and brought me to Nakta Samrech office, located in Tum Pech Village. A majority of people taken there were killed by the security personnel. There were two big, long buildings in this detention center. The security staff divided male and female prisoners into different groups and shackled them. Each week, prisoners were interrogated two to three times. The security staff accused me of being a Lon Nol soldier but I do not know who made the accusation or ordered my arrest. What I know is that they were Khmer Rouge soldiers.

I was detained for twenty-nine days. The security staff did not make me do anything. My legs and ankles were shackled, along with those of approximately twenty other male prisoners. Out of the twenty prisoners detained there, only two prisoners survived –An Tit, my in-law, and me. Those executed were accused of being Lon Nol soldiers. Soeun, the district chief who knew me, filed the document to release me. I do not know how the security staff killed the prisoners. So many people were taken for execution. During my detention, I received only a pumpkin bowl of watery gruel with less than a spoonful of rice grain. I ate two meals per day – one was in mid afternoon and the other one was at five p.m. I was given water to drink only once a day. After Soeun wrote his report to the security office, I was released. After getting out of prison, I was very skinny – there was only skin covering my bones. Siem, the village chief (deceased), ordered me to do only easy tasks, for example, fishing in Tonle Sap Lake using a trou [a kind of fishing instrument consisting of a long round cage made of bamboo strips and tapered at both ends]. Then I began to have some food, such as fish, to eat.
Other Crime :
Family separation:

Between 1975 and 1979, my wife and I lived separately. I made oxcarts, plows, hoes, earth- moving buckets, and fished. Mostly, I worked in Lvea Village. My wife’s tasks included transplanting rice seedlings, digging up earth, building a canal, and raising the embankment at Boeng San Taung. A female village chief named Kanh Che ordered my wife to work far away from me. Over the course of one or two months, and sometimes three or four months, my wife and I could meet each other only once, depending on our tasks. I am not certain why they separated us, but I knew that Kanh Che, the female chief, assigned everyone their given tasks. Siem, Lvea village chief, assigned me to work at other places.
