Thirty-three relatives lost

In 1978, all of my relatives, thirty-three in total, except my immediate family, were taken to be killed by the Khmer Rouge in O Trakuon Pagoda, Peam Chikang Commune, Kang Meas District, Kampong Cham Province. My family and I did not witness the incident. I learned of this incident only after the fall of Pol Pot, upon returning to our home village. The person who informed us of this incident was Mean, who currently lives in Sambo Meas Village, Peam Chikang Commune, Kang Meas District, Kampong Cham Province. I want to clarify that Mean was the only Cham who was able to escape the slaughter in Sambo Meas village. All Chams who lived in this village were executed. Mean was also taken to be executed, but fortunately he escaped the slaughter. Mean said that the Khmer Rouge took Cham people by cart to O Trakuon Pagoda and killed them using hoes and sticks. I do not know why they slaughtered Chams. The perpetrator was Teal, currently living in Sambo Meas Village, Peam Chikang Commune, Kang Meas District. He is now a civil servant. During the Pol Pot regime, he was an executioner. My relatives who died are:

● El Aisah (aunt)
● Kin (El Aisah’s husband)
● Sarah ( daughter of El Aisah and Kin)
● Mai Yum (cousin)
● El Sa (Mai Yum’s husband)
● Sa Sim ( my father’s cousin)

There are many other relatives whose names I do not recall, but my mother and other family members know this information.

Request to Change Mode of Participation

I am Sleh Matt, currently living in Aphivoat Village, Phall Hal Commune, Tbegn Meanchey District, Preah Vihear Province. On October 26, 2007, I filed an application form to be a civil party, Victim Unit Number 07-VU-0195.

Regarding my interview conducted by phone on April 26, 2009, from 03:08 p.m. to 03:30 p.m., after listening to an explanation given by the Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) staff member about the difference between being a complainant and a civil party, I would like to change my mode of participation from being a civil party to a complainant.

I want to clarify that I want to change my mode of participation to complainant because I am a Cham governor and very busy with religious tasks. Moreover, I serve in the Hun Sen Bodyguard Unit based on the Preah Vihear border.

Based on the above information, I respectfully ask the ECCC to allow me to change my mode of participation from being a civil party to a complainant.
