In 1971, Phieng joined the Free Khmer and disguised into O Reang Ov District Military Unit through Seng, Lieutenant Colonel. Phieng stirred up conflict with his comrades in unit and caused disintegration within unit.
នៅឆ្នាំ១៩៧១ ភៀង បានចូលខ្មែរសេរីមកបង្កប់ខ្លួននៅក្នុងអង្គភាព យោធាស្រុកអូររាំងឪ តាមរយៈឈ្មោះ សេង សក្ដិ៥។ ភៀងបាន ធ្វើសកម្មភាពបំផុសបង្កទំនាស់បក្សពួកនៅក្នុងអង្គភាព បំផុសបំបែកបំបាក់ ផ្ទៃក្នុងអង្គភាព។
