The original chairman of Boeng Trabek was a man named Savon and had two assistants, Sin and Than. Savon referred to himself as a Party member. He was not older than 20 and was [of]Lao extraction and used to boast that he was illiterate. He did not seem to ask to be proper Khmer or proper Khmer revolutionary. His language was very derogatory and he looked down on us, like we were dogs. His assistants were the same way (SH, JAP 4, p. 9)
