The only evidence I know of that indicates this was a note put in the offices signed Khiev which is Son Sen's revolutionary name. The note was dated sometime in 1976 and addressed to repsected and beloved comrade Duch. The note said 1)You must conserve paper 2)You must be careful about getting confessions. Some enemies are really enemies but don't confess. Others confess because of fear and don't tell the real truth. Others just say what they think the interrogators want him to say. According to Mai Lam, the 1980 Vietnamese director of Tuol Sleng, Son Sen came back from China and "attempted a coup in accordance with Chinese instructions and was arrested and held in Tuol Sleng" (SH, JAP 4, p. 10)
