Summary / Abstract :
At the end of 1976, Democratic Kampuchea claimed that the area of Ban Noi Parai Village in Aranyaprathet District, Prachinburi Province belonged to Cambodia. But Thai government rejected such a claim on the basis of the Thai-Franco border treaty. Since then the Khmer Rouge invaded Thailand several times, and dug bunkers inside Thai territory. The Thai government dispatched copies of a protest note worldwide. It stated that on July 20, 1977, Khmer Rouge forces ambushed Thai Border Patrol police resulting in 17 dead and 16 wounded. Again, on July 28, 1977, about 300 Khmer Rouge soldiers invaded Ban Noi Parai Village and killed 29 people, including pregnant women, children and infants. The Thai government demanded that the Cambodian government take full responsibility and pay compensation.
