Main Crime Location
The loss of my four children Between 1975 and 1978, my four children, Hun Vun, Huy Dy, Huy Phan, and Huy Sokpha, all disappeared. Prior to 1975, we lived together in Prey Chheuteal village, Chrey Thom commune, Romeas Hek district, Svay Rieng province. After the liberation in 1975, one of my children, Huy Von, was persuaded by his cousin, Sim (deceased), to serve as a medic at Chantry commune. Prior to the time he was persuaded to serve as a medic, he received no training regarding medical treatment, and had no medical studies. During the dry season, Sim came to recruit my son. My wife, It Hit (deceased), and I both witnessed this. At first, he often came visit us. However, after my son was sent to work in a district hospital, located in Krasaing district, Krasing province, he never returned and never paid us a single visit. By that time, he was already married. What happened to Huy Von later is unknown to us. After the fall of the regime in 1979, his wife came to inform us, that they had been separated in Pursat province. I do not know all whether they killed him, who killed him, whether any eyewitnesses saw he killing, which Khmer Rouge [leader] ordered the killing, or who should be held accountable for his death. Another child, Huy Phan, served voluntarily as a [Khmer Rouge] soldier, stationed at Lak Loeung, before the communal dining halls were created. From the moment he departed from home, he never returned. Under the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-79), despite seeking news of my son, we had no news of him. After the the fall of the regime in 1979, Chim (deceased), told me that my son, Huy, had served as a soldier at Lak Leoung. I think he must have died. But where he died, but I do not know how he died, who killed him, or who ordered the killing. I want to clarify one thing: the Khmer Rouge unit chief in Prey Chheuteal village was Kun (deceased). In late 1978, two more children, Huy Dy and Huy Sokpha, were relocated to Pursat province. I did not see the incident, because I had been relocated to Pursat province prior to this incident. At the time, a district chief from Pursat province came to evacuate all [adult] villagers, youths, and children to Pursat province. At the time, and did not know of any reason for the evacuation. I cannot recall the name of the district chief who came from Pursat province. Huy Dy and Huy Sokpha disappeared from that moment. I believe they must have died, because everyone of their age, who was evacuated to Pursat province during this time, has returned to home to our village. These people told me about what happened to my two children. Sann (deceased) witnessed these events during this time.
