Summary / Abstract :
On the night of Nov 2, 1977, Khmer Rouge forces invaded three Thai border villages, Ban Non Sao Ae, Ban Nong Pru and Ban Thap Prik, in Prachinburi Province. It was the largest Khmer Rouge attack since 1975. They burnt down houses, a temple and a rice mill, and carried some rice back to Cambodia. After the Khmer Rouge pulled back, the Thai fired arsenals against 16 Khmer Rouge bases. The Thai milit ary believed the attacks were a revenge against what they believe Thailand was helping its rival, the Khmer Serei movement. The Khmer Rouge also suspected that the refugees were used to spy against De mocratic Kampuchea.
