The Thai Foreign Ministry said it had handed a letter to the United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim detailing the Cambodian forces invasion which killed 17 Thai officers. On july 28, 1977, a g roup of foreign military attaches went to examine the battle sites in Ban Noi Parai Village of Prachinburi Province and in Surin Province. Deputy Army Commander Yos Thephasdin na Ayutthaya said Thaila nd wanted to redemarcate and make a new map of the Thai-Cambodian border line, but Cambodia had refused to hold talks. Thailand was now asking a third country to persuade Cambodia to agree to talk wit h Thailand. He believed Cambodia had no capability to invade Thailand since it did not have sufficient forces and the country was facing escalating domestic resistence. ON the night of Aug 2, 1977, ar ound 250-300 Cambodian troops raided Ban Sanlo Chan-ngan in Taphraya District of Prachinburi. Two Thai officers and twelve civilians were killed. Ten houses were burnt down. Villagers had to abandon t heir village. At the same time, around 100-150 Khmer soldiers were raiding Ban Sa-ngae Village in Prachinburi, killing one officer and wounded four others. Thirteen civilians, including five children, were also killed. One Khmer Rouge body was found dead.
