Khmer Rouge forces raided three villages in Taphraya District of Prachinburi Province and massacred 29 Thais, including women and children. Several thousand Khmer Rouge troops were stationed across th e Thai border. Thai military said the surprise raid was probably an attempt to help Thai communists.
