Several villages in Aranyaprathet and Taphraya Districts of Prachinburi Province were abandoned because people were afraid of Khmer Rouge attacks. Sabotage activities by the Khmer Rouge-backed Siam Or ganization [Angkar Siem], a Thai communist organisation, were increased. In some villages only men remained, but they had to live in hard conditions.
