Ieng Sary told the press in Bangkok that Prince Sihanouk was still in Phnom Penh with the status of Head of State, and denied the Democratic Kampuchea government had committed any atrocities against i ts people. He claimed that an official survey by the government in 1976 revealed there were 7.75 million people in Cambodia. He claimed Hanoi had instigated several coup attempts in Cambodia, while de nying that there were Chinese military advisers on the western Cambodian front facing Vietnam.
