On March 7, 1973, about 30 Khmer-Yuon Viet Cong armed forces transported 2 of 75mm guns, 2 of 82mm mortars and some ammunition from Sa Ang district VT 983-578 and VT 979-588 to set shelters around Tuol Ta Mak VT 935-616 and VT 952-623, Cheung Kep sub-district, Kandal Stung district of Kandal province by crossing Tuol Krasang village. On the same day, about 300 Khmer Viet Cong under the command of Sa Mov called Try moved from Sa Ang district to set shelters which had already set up in an attempt to attack Takhmau provincial town and Prek Hor bridge.
កាលពីថ្ងៃទី៧ មីនា ១៩៧៣ មានខ្មែរ និងយួនយៀកកុងប្រដាប់ អាវុធប្រហែល៣០នាក់ បានដឹកជញ្ជូនកាំភើ្លង៧៥មម ២ដើម, ៨២មម ២ដើម និងគ្រាប់រំសេវមួយចំនួនចេញពីស្រុកស្អាង វ៉េតេ ៩៨៣-៥៧៥ និងវ៉េតេ ៩៧៩-៥៨៨ ចូលទៅតាំងជម្រកនៅម្ដុំទួល តាមវ៉េតេ៩៣៥-៦១៦ និងវ៉េតេ ៩៥២-៦២៣ ក្នុងសង្កាត់ជើង កែបស្រុក កណ្ដាលសឹ្ទង ខេត្ដកណ្ដាល ដោយបានឆ្លងកាត់តាម ភូមិទួលក្រសាំង។ ប្រភពបានបន្ថែមទៀតថា ក្នុងថ្ងៃដដែលនោះមាន ខ្មែរយៀកកុងប្រហែល៣០០នាក់ ក្រោមបញ្ជាការឈ្មោះ សា ម៉ូវ ហៅ ទ្រី បានចេញពីស្រុកស្អាង ឆ្ពោះមកកន្លែងតាំងជម្រកខាងលើ ដើម្បីរៀបចំផែនការវាយប្រហារក្រុងតាខ្មៅ និងស្ពានព្រែកហូរ។
