In February 1974, the Khmer Communist soldiers collected money and rice from villagers in an attempt to provide them to their soldiers who were operating in Phnom Penh. On February 1-13, 1974, they sent 1,500 villagers to train in Military Strategy Tang Kok district, Kampong Thom province. On 22 February 1974, about 1,000 Khmer communist soldiers in black uniforms armed with 82 mm mortars, 60 mm mortars, B-40 guns, 12,7 mm machine guns, as well as AK47 rifles moved from Preah Vihear region toward Tang Kok region. Then, they continued to go toward Phnom Penh battlefield.
ក្នុងកំឡុងខែកុម្ភះ ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ ខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដបានរៃអង្គាសអ្នកស្រុក យកលុយ និងអង្ករ ដើម្បីឧបត្ថមកងទ័ពវាដែលកំពុងប្រតិបត្ដិការនៅ ភ្នំពេញ។ កាលពីថ្ងៃទី១-១៣ខែកុម្ភះ ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ ខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដបាន បញ្ជូនអ្នកស្រុកចំនួន១៥០០នាក់ ទៅរៀនក្បួនយុទ្ធសាស្ដ្រនៅស្រុក តាំងគោក។ ហើយនៅថ្ងៃទី២២ ខែកុម្ភះ ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ ខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដ ប្រហែល១,០០០នាក់ ស្លៀកពាក់ខ្មៅ ប្រដាប់អាវុធដោយកាំភ្លើង ត្បាល់ទំហំ៨២មម, ៦០មម, បេ៤០, កាំភ្លើងយន្ដទំហំ ១២,៧មម និងកាំភ្លើងចម្រុះជាច្រើនទៀតបានចេញពីព្រះវិហារ ចូលសម្រាកនៅ តាំងគោក រួចបន្ដមកកាន់សមរភូមិភ្នំពេញទៀត។
