A source reported on March 21, 1973, at night, about 400 Khmer Viet Cong armed forces moved from Prasat sub-district, Sa Ang district of Kandal province, in an attempt to attack National Army along National Road No. 1 based on Kanleng Krabei village WT 240-616, Samrong Thom sub-district, Kean Svay district of Kandal province. The source added that another 5,000 enemy forces moved from the East bank of Mekong river to reinforce their army No. 25 who was in an attack with National Army in the above mentioned areas. The enemies were trying to keep a curb on National Army activities in order to creat favorable condition for their troop to cross the river safely.
ប្រភពបានផ្ដល់មកថា កាលពីរាត្រីថ្ងៃទី២១ មីនា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៣ មានខ្មែរយៀកកុងប្រដាប់អាវុធប្រហែល៤០០នាក់ បានចេញពីសង្កាត់ ប្រាសាទ ស្រុកស្អាង ខេត្ដកណ្ដាល មកវាយប្រហាកងទ័ពជាតិនៅតាម ផ្លូវជាតិលេខ១ ដែលមានទីតាំងនៅភូមិកន្លែងក្របី ចំណុចឌុបដឺវ៉េតេ ២៤០-៦១៦ ក្នុងសង្កាត់សំរោងធំ ស្រុកកៀនស្វាយ ខេត្ដកណ្ដាល។ ប្រភពបានបន្ថែមថា មានខ្មាំងប្រហែល៥,០០០នាក់ទៀតបាន ឆ្លង ពីត្រើយខាងកើតទនេ្លមេគង្គ ចូលមកជួយបន្ថែមលើទ័ពលេខ២៥ ដែលកំពុងតែបានវាយប្រហារកងទ័ពជាតិ នៅចំណុចខាងលើដោយ មានទ័ពគ្នាវាបានធើ្វការទប់ទល់នូវដំណើរកងទ័ពជាតិ ដើម្បីងាយ ស្រួលឱ្យគ្នាវាឆ្លងមកដោយសុវត្ថិភាព។
