The evacuation of the 610 foreign nationals from the French Embassy in Phnom Penn to the Thai border has been delayed inexplicably, with no clear picture of where the convoy now is. M.Jean-Louis Toffin, the French Ambassador to Thailand, who is at the border here, said statements that the convoy had run out of petrol and was stranded only 25 miles from here were complete nonsense. He spoke to Khmer Rouge officials across the barbed wire barrier on the briage which marks the Thai-Cambodians border and said later had no idea where the convoy was.
