Summary / Abstract :
Cambodian troops, armor and planes launched a new drive today on the "Rocket belt" from which communist-led rebels daily shell the capital and its airport, but the attack stalled under intense rebel fire, field reports said: Fort-one rockets slammed into Pochentong Airport and into the capital in 84th straight day of the rebel bombardment, the reports said: At least 20 rockets hit the airfield, but the U.S airlift that is Phnom Penh's only source of rice, ammunition and fuel was not interrupted. Six Cambodians were wounded the airlift resumed yesterday after a two-day suspension ordered when two U.S planes were damaged by rebel shells. In Washington, the Pentagon confirmed that the airlift had been extended for 30 days with the transfer of $8m from non-military aid funds.
