Phnom Penh: In Cambodai the war is as much one of news as of front lines. Battler experience has taught Phnom Penh's residents to regard as ominous any political anniversary: prince Sihanouk's outer, the establishment of the Royal Government of National Union in Peking. As the Khmer Republic's first presidental elections approached, rumours of another attact on the capital took wing. According to one forcast, 1,000 rockets were to slam into the capital if Marshal Lon Nol won the election. The prediction was wrong-by 997 rockets.
